Connecting Care Across Borders

From early reproductive health to the transformative journey of pregnancy and motherhood, this session highlights the expertise of specialists in gynaecology, fertility, midwifery, perinatal psychology, and holistic birth support. Participants will gain insight into modern approaches to menstrual health, fertility pathways, pregnancy and birth care, and postpartum support, anchored in multidisciplinary, woman-centred practice.

Overview

This session brings together leading specialists in gynaecology, fertility, midwifery, perinatal psychology, holistic birth support, and women’s health research to explore a comprehensive, woman-centred approach across the reproductive lifespan. Spanning adolescence through fertility, pregnancy, birth, and the postpartum period, the programme highlights how multidisciplinary expertise can strengthen continuity of care and improve wellbeing for women at every stage.

Participants will engage in expert presentations, a clinical case study, a multidisciplinary panel discussion, and an interactive Q&A session. The programme will explore menstrual and reproductive health in adolescence, advances in fertility and assisted reproduction, and evidence-based approaches to pregnancy and birth care. It will further examine the emotional and psychological dimensions of the perinatal journey, including postpartum adjustment and family support, while recognising the growing role of doulas and other holistic practitioners in offering continuous, compassionate, and culturally grounded care. Drawing on clinical practice, lived experience, and international research, the session offers a forward-looking perspective on how integrated models of care can enhance safety, dignity, empowerment, and long-term health outcomes for women in Mauritius and beyond.
